Liverpool Mayoral Election
02 May 2012
MCC has asked all candidates who are campaigning to become the first directly elected Mayor of Liverpool for their position on supporting cycling. We have specifically asked about their views on the recommendations of Cities fit for cycling, a newspaper campaign of The Times and their support for the 20's Plenty For Us campaign. You can read the full letter here.
The Times has noticed our campaign and interviewed the candidates as well as reported our list of priorities.

Loop Line Threatened with Closure
Liverpool celebrates the “Year of Health & Wellbeing” – assisted by Network Rail:
Network Rail, who look after the Ormskirk line railway bridge over the Loop Line near the Black Bull (Walton), intend to close the Loop Line by building embankments under the bridge.
They have offered to pierce the earthworks with a culvert, but have demanded £200,000 for “maintenance”.
Sustrans say they don’t have the money and have instructed Network Rail to proceed with the closure in September.
There is no suitable on-road link between the two sides of the closure.
If you want to let Network Rail know what you think their contact details are:
